In 1750, George Friedrich Händel began his long association with the Foundling Hospital in London. He gave a concert in the almost-completed chapel there, ending with the Hallelujah chorus from Messiah, which brought the packed audience, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, to its feet.

La salle était comble et lorsqu' Haendel joua son Hallelujah à la fin du concert, devant une audience qui ne l'avait encore jamais entendu, l'assemblée toute entière se leva pour l'acclamer, y compris le Prince et la Princesse de Galles.
Aucun d'entre eux n'aurait pu imaginer que deux siècles et demi plus tard...
ce morceau serait joué par des lycéens!
