Découvrir Londres
A la demande de Tara du blog Welcome to my world, je vous montre une horloge.
Eh oui, c'est Big Ben!
As Tara, over at Welcome to my World asked, I am showing you a clock.

Marie-Anne (Vent de Terre) is planning to go to London for Easter and is asking us for help... No, I don't know everything about London but I know it... a little.

Accommodation
First of all, you have to know that accommodation in London is very expensive and not always very good!
Last time, we went to a nice hotel, tired of being so often disappointed : rooms on an inner well (I am claustrophobic), shower in which you can't stand up, window that doesn't close etc.
To prove me right, there have been articles about the bad state of the hotel industry in London in The Caterer Magazine (in which the subjects for the BTS university exams are picked up). If any of you know of a good address in London, please let me know.
So, last time, we indulgeded ourselves, we chose the excellent Marriott Marble Arch, George Street. It was my birthday present.

Food
Food is varied and international. The idea that food is not good in England is wrong nowadays, finished!
Leicester Arms: 45, Glasshouse Street.
I particularly like pubs where you can have typical British food : all day breakfast or fish and chips (which were excellent in this pub near Regent street, on the top left picture above). Leicester Arms : 45, Glasshouse Street.

Moving around
I really prefer the bus, very convenient. You can buy an oyster card for the number of days you desire, unlimited use. Moving around by bus, as opposed to the underground, allows you to get a good global idea of the city.

The parks
There are parks and gardens everywhere, the biggest one being Hyde Park, you can see it clearly on this photo taken from the plane.
The next photo shows you Green Park, next to St James Park. To the north of the city is Regent's Park.

Shopping
London is a perfect place for shopping. The main shopping Street is Oxford Street with Primark, Selfridges and John Lewis. Of course, Next, Monsoon, Topshop, Marks and Spencer, H&M are there too, among many others.
You have to see the famous department store Harrods, in Knightsbridge,

and Covent Garden, a former market converted into a touristical shopping mall.
There is also Camden Town Market, very fashionable.
For antiques, I only know Portobello market, quite expensive, open at the week-ends.

Visits
Once you have visited all the famous museums like the National Gallery, the Tate Gallery, don't forget to go and see the Globe theater, Shakespeare's theater.
I also particularly like the National Portrait Gallery, but that is my personal taste. Its collection of portraits, including the Royals and some famous writers (who wouldn't dream of seeing the portrait of the Brontë Sisters by their Brother Branwell) takes you throughout London history.

You can also get a ride on the London Eye (or go to the top of the Shard)

Profitez bien de votre séjour à Londres!
