Vous souvenez-vous? Il y a quelque temps, j'ai trouvé un joli livre sur les Cotwolds chez les Compagnons d'Emmaüs.
C'est une région d'Angleterre que je ne connais pas et j'aurais voulu me transformer en Mary Poppins pour sauter dans les images.
Eh bien, c'est chose faite (ou presque). L'autre jour, au détour d'une route bien française de Picardie, j'ai aperçu en contrebas un village qui m'a semblé intéressant.
Do you remember? A short time ago, I found a nice book about the Cotswolds at a Goodwill shop.
I don't know this part of England and I would have loved to turn myself into Mary Poppins and jump into the pictures.
Well, that's done, or nearly. The other day, while driving on a very French road in Picardy, I caught a glimpse of a village that looked interesting.
J'ai demandé à mon chauffeur (mari) de s'approcher, croyant trouver une foule de touristes, un peu comme à Gerberoy. Il n'en était rien, la rue principale du village, ou devrais-je dire, la seule rue, était déserte.
I asked the driver (my husband) to go closer, expecting to find a crowd of tourists, like in Gerberoy. Nothing like it, the main street, or I should say, the only street, was totally empty.
Bien sûr, je n'ai pas pensé un instant aux Cotswolds. C'est seulement en regardant mes photos, plus tard, que j'y ai trouvé une ressemblance.

Les toits en tuiles plates, très anciens, devenus gris, les solides et épais murs de pierre, destinés à garder la chaleur, ou le frais.
Of course, it never crossed my mind to think about the Cotswolds. But later on, while looking at the photos, I found a similarity.

L'église du village dont le clocher domine encore le paysage. La verdure que l'on devine présente tout l'été. Ici, rarement de sécheresse.
